facial recognition
MATCHING A HUMAN FACE FROM A DIGITAL IMAGE OR A VIDEO FRAME AGAINST A DATABASE OF FACES TO CONFIRM AN INDIVIDUAL’S IDENTITY
Facial recognition is a technology capable of matching a human face from a digital image or a video frame against a database of faces to confirm an individual’s identity. Although less accurate than fingerprint recognition, it is often favored because of its contactless nature. It is mostly used in personal security, law enforcement, or digital onboarding in finance.
To match the face templates, convolutional neural networks process each image through several steps:
- Face detection
- Face alignment
- Template extraction
- Template matching
FINGERPRINT RECOGNITION
PROCESS OF THE VERIFICATION OF A PERSON’S IDENTITY BY COMPARING THEIR FINGERPRINTS WITH PREVIOUSLY RECORDED SAMPLES.
Fingerprint recognition is the process of the verification of a person’s identity by comparing their fingerprints with previously recorded samples. Fingerprints are impressions of human fingers, consisting of a series of ridges and grooves. Fingerprints captured in the system are located by minutiae points – points at which scars begin or terminate. These are further mapped with lines between them, creating a minutiae template.
Innovatrics fingerprint recognition algorithm consists of two main parts: feature extractor and fingerprint matcher.
iris recognition
AUTOMATED METHOD OF BIOMETRIC IDENTIFICATION, TAKING UNIQUE PATTERNS WITHIN A RING-SHAPED REGION SURROUNDING THE PUPIL OF EACH EYE
Iris recognition is an automated method of biometric identification, taking unique patterns within a ring-shaped region surrounding the pupil of each eye. It is an extremely reliable and accurate identification method with very low false match rates. However, it has some disadvantages such as requiring specialized hardware equipment.
Iris scanning illuminates irises with invisible infrared light to take a picture of unique patterns in each eye, not visible to the naked eye. A special camera takes the position of the pupil, iris, eyelids and eyelashes. Each eye gets its own unique mathematical patterns, which is further digitized.
